The site is in a sustainable location and would represent a logical, well-contained, extension to the built-up area of Kirkby-in-Ashfield. It is highlighted in red on the map to the left.
The site is owned by Nottinghamshire County Council and forms part of a county-wide drive to create much-needed new housing.
Funding has been secured from Homes England as part of the Local Authority Accelerated Construction Fund to help bring the site forward for development and provide the necessary infrastructure.
The site was proposed for allocation in the Ashfield Local Plan in 2016. The Plan was withdrawn by Ashfield District Council in 2018 and a new Local Plan is currently being prepared.
The new homes would help to meet the district’s critical shortfall in housing provision and deliver a new neighbourhood in a highly accessible and sustainable location.
Subject to planning permission being granted, the site would be sold to house builders who would take forward delivery of the new homes.
